Not just including illustrative easter eggs there are ton of random speech bubbles sounds etc and a sign on the first level that is the length of time ramp has been running.
keeping the site light was an interesting problem, thanks to Emiles chosen style we have so many repeated objects, I broke the illustrations down to symbols and layers.
Each layer then could be controlled, does it animate or not etc, I ended up building an animation system to try and get the animation to feel less robotic.
The posible animating objects get added to a pool if they are on screen, then randomly object get chosen each tick but each object can random end on the tick and other can start so you see some variation in the starting and stoping of these 2 frame animations.
